Tine's Lake

Tine's Lake is the carp and sturgeon action lake at the De Karperhoeve estate and about 5-acres in size. In the winter of 2013, no expenses were spared to improve the lake and organise a netting. The results were spectacular: a large number of original stock was caught, with the biggest carp weighing 41lb. The stock of Tine's Lake is quite impressive in numbers, with plenty of carp ranging from 20-30lb. Also, fishing Tine's Lake is spectacular due to the stock of sturgeon. Sterlets, an albino sturgeon and around 20 large Diamant sturgeon, are home at this lake. These fish are a perfect sport at your (light) carp fishing gear. During the netting we removed all bream and catfish that were caught, this will improve the fishing a lot!

The estate De Karperhoeve is located next to the river De Nete and the highway A13, just next to the town of Oosterlo and the large city of Geel (Belgium). With short driving distances from the ports of Calais, Dunkerque and Knokke it is a perfect destination for UK carp anglers. At the lake, good knowledge about the depths and lake features is quite important. As the lake was originally a swamp, please prepare yourself for fish at a soft and muddy bottom. It really improves your fishing to adjust your terminal tackle to this situation. 

The Stock
In recent years, the water has had a considerable fishing pressure, although Tine's Lake is suitable for novice carp anglers, it is important to think carefully about your bait presentation and fishing. The existing original fish stock has grown well due to the significant presence of natural food, especially insects such as red mosquito larvae. Since we have removed a lot of bream and catfish during the logging off in the winter of 2013, we expect that the fish will grow even faster in the coming years. That promises a lot of good! In the past winters, extra expansions have also taken place to increase further the chances of catching, the most recent being the expansion of exactly 60 carp in January 2021 we estimate the total carp stock to be about 370 carp, +/- 20 surgeon and +/- 10 catfish. The record carp, a stunning common carp, has been last caught in November 2019 weighing 48lb by the UK Nash Team.

The Facilities
On the domain, you will find a nice tavern which offers space for showers, toilets (separate ladies' and men's toilets), tackle shop, charging points and reception area. The toilet facilities are open 24 hours a day, the shower facilities are open only between 09:00 and 17:00 each day. In front of the tavern, you will find a guarded parking place where you can safely park your car after unloading the material on the site, or you can keep your car parked at your swim. Each swim features a 220V European power plug suitable to charge your mobile phone, tablet, baitboat battery etc., but it's NOT suitable for larger items such as fridges coffee machines etc.

Maximum three carp rods per angler
No braided mainlines, leadcore and leaders. 'Lead-free' leaders such as FreeFall, SubMerge & KlingOn are allowed

Each swim is fitted with a weigh pole
No keepsacks
No hooks larger then size 4, micro-barbed hooks only
Fixed-rigs are not allowed. Use safetyrigs. Please ensure that the lead can slide over all knots (f.e. when using a shock leader). Inline leads and safety clips are allowed
The owner and bailliff reserve the right to check your material
Bait boats are allowed, but please use them sensibly and with respect to other anglers.
Please keep a bucket of water at hand to keep the fish wet at the unhooking mat, and to rinse your unhooking mat after use to prevent cross-contamination from parasites
Please keep noise such as radios to an acceptable level
Rods must not be left unattended when lines are in the water
BBQ's are allowed, but no open fires
Please keep your swim clean, use the bins provided for litter. Please separate the glass from the other waste
Swimming is not allowed
Children are under the sole responsibility of their parents or tutor
We cannot be held responsible for any accidents or thefts at the lake
Marking or mutilation of the fish is strictly forbidden. Offenders will be prosecuted
Only particles bought on site are allowed, we supply a full range of particles onsite
Dogs are allowed
The use of drugs and (extensive) alcohol is not allowed
The estate has a secure parking
It is allowed to park at your swim, but your car must remain on the swim (unless you go shopping)
Tuesday is the 'day off' for Timmy. You can use the shower in the morning and meals will be served as usual
Rowing boats are allowed at your own risk and peril. The use of a life jacket is compulsory
In case you break any of the rules, you'll get a yellow card. At the second yellow card, you'll get a red card and will be asked to leave De Karperhoeve without a right for refund
