Lake Iannis is being spoken about as the new lake Zajarki but in Romania with a huge amount of big fish to be caught and many European anglers gracing the banks already in search of one of the lakes treasures.
Iannis Lake is an artificial reservoir with a symmetrical rectangular shape, which is designed to give carp anglers equal opportunities in terms of depths and structures, as well as in terms of fishing distances.
In the beginning the lake was overstocked with carp and could be classed as a “runs water”. Since it was dug from scratch, the lake’s ecosystem could not provide enough natural food for the large carp population. The fish were fed pellets which proved to be beneficial. Gradually, as the carp grew in size, the fish stock was reduced. In a few years, the lake started to have its own natural food sources, and the pellet-based feeding programme was reduced.
Iannis is every anglers dream with lots of big carp and fantastic facilities with two bed houses on each swim with electric supplied along with a fridge and AC units with also supplying WIFI at the venue. Lake Iannis is a dream venue for the angler searching that new personnel best carp as it has an impressive population of over 2000 carp, many of them really big.
The Lake
Iannis Lake has an area of 24ha with depths ranging from 1.6m in the margins to 3.3m in the middle. Most of the lake’s bottom is quite hard. There are some silty areas as well, particularly in the deepest areas, but the lakebed is generally ideal for presenting carp baits and rigs. There are no snag or abrasive areas. Fish can be easily played from the bank.
The lake is rectangular in shape with 18 wide swims which are designed for comfortable camping. All swims have access to a stretch of water with similar depths and structures. There are 13 islands built along the axis of the lake. The islands are used as natural markers to determine the boundaries for each swim. The swims are displayed on two opposite banks.
The Stock
Iannis has a huge density of big carp with a professional stocking programme each year from its managed stock ponds.
The lake has more than 455 carp over 20 kg, 90 carp over 25 kg, 16 carp over 30kg and a few are expected to push through the 40kg barrier very soon.
Lake Iannis is rich in big carp with common, mirror and grass carp to over 36kg. Current stocks include hundreds of carp from 15kg to 36kg!

We advise flying into Cluj-Napoca Romania, where you can find daily budget flights from selected London Luton, Stansted airports & Leeds airport with Wizz Air and Ryanair.
Alternative routes are available with Lufthansa, usually changing in Germany but still very good options.
