Les Croix

Les Croix is a real carp anglers lake. Here you can enjoy the best available angling environment with peace and tranquility, beautiful pristine carp, lovely lakeside accommodation - without the risk of having your holiday spoiled by others !  An old school venue - where proper carp fishing, casting and baiting up from the bank are the norm, where fish can be caught in the margins in daylight, and 
played to the net from the bank with no hidden snags or weedbeds. Just you and the carp - for a stress-free holiday !

The venue is available for exclusive bookings only. A maximum of 6 rods are allowed per week - this doesn't focus primarily on 
maximum income ... but it does provide the most enjoyable and productive angling situation along with a relaxing exclusive 
holiday for our discerning clientele.  The venue is unique, being owned by a qualified fisheries manager - 
this is a fishery that was created and managed correctly from day one. 

Unlike the majority of French venues where revenue is the primary consideration and the fish are regarded as a commodity for generating 
income, Les Croix is run with pride and passion by a long term carp angler - who also benefits from having the relevant knowledge 
and professional fishery management background which is necessary to run a carp fishery in the long term.

This fishery has a balanced stock of big pristine carp along with an up and coming number of young fish. 
It's not a runs water but has a stock of fish that very few venues can aspire to. 
We don't exaggerate our fish stock as so many others seem to do, but Les Croix can produce the catch that you have dreamed of !

Short sessions, resting the lake in between, combined with regular baiting produce the best results. In May 2016, long time carper 
Jim Nicholson - on his first visit to Les Croix caught 19 fish including 2 upper 60's, 2 mid 50's, 7 x 40's and 5 x 30's. Not a one-off 
catch by any means - the following week, 13 x 40's and 4 x 50's were caught, and all were different fish.... enough said ! 

In 2019 another of our regular anglers, John Sullivan, caught 28 carp in a week, with  5 x30's, 10 x 40's, 1 x 50, and 3 x 60's included 
in his catch, once again showing the amazing potential of the venue. We have never needed to advertise Les Croix - having always operated "under the radar".  We believe that understated quality and word of mouth is the best advertising - although the truth 
is that many of our clients tend to keep the venue to themselves ...

Guests have exclusive use of our modern fully equipped lakeside holiday cottage. Only thirty metres from  and overlooking 
the lake, in a very private sunny location with oak woodland at the rear, the 65 square metre property sleeps up to 5 people, with 
2 bedrooms, (bedroom 1 - double room.   bedroom 2 - three single beds.) 

Kitchen/living room with two double leather sofas, dining area, 42" TV with SKY HD Freeview channels, DVD player and a 
200 title DVD library. There is a good 4G signal here, and wi-fi is available. 

Bathroom with large luxury shower, wash basin, heated towel rail and English W/C. Kitchen has fan oven, gas hob, extractor fan, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, fridge freezer, crockery, pans, cutlery and plenty of workspace and cupboard storage. 
Cleaning products are supplied. The gite is double glazed, well insulated and remains cool in summer 
and warm in the cooler months with heating in all rooms. Fans are provided for summer use. 

Outside you will find a covered tiled terrace area with large modern gas barbecue, table and chairs and the lawns leading down to the lake. 
Next to the terrace is the heated swimming pool and adjoining sun patio complete with seating area, table and chairs and sun loungers. 

The accommodation is maintained in immaculate condition and is thoroughly cleaned before every chageover - you will find it in 
spotless condition on your arrival. Gas, electricity, water and bed linen are all included in the price that you pay. 

The pool will be open from mid-June to mid-September (weather dependant) !  

The accommodation is completely independant with its own gated access, and is situated on 
the opposite side of the lake to the owners' house.

IMPORTANT

A maximum of 5 people are allowed on the site (2 anglers/3 additional guests).    
Fishing from the gite is not allowed - all anglers must stay with their rods in the swims at all times.

The gite is a smoke free zone - smoking is not permitted inside.  Bait must not be taken inside the accomodation.  
(Bait freezer is available at owners house)

RODS  Maximum 3 per angler, soft through action rods 2.5 -3.0 lbs T/C are best suited to the venue (long distance casting not needed here)

REELS - Big pit type reels only. The retrieve rate of these bigger reels and the front drag system is essential for keeping large powerful fish under control.

LINES  minimum 14lb (0.33mm absolute minimum) -  nylon monofilament and flourocarbon mainlines only. 

END TACKLE  Simple running or semi-fixed rigs only. Helicopter/chod/zig rigs are prohibited. 2.5oz leads maximum. Only flying backleads are allowed. No shop bought rigs.

Tubing or a leadless safety leader must be used (minimum length 1.5m - available on site), leaders must be attached using a figure of 8 knot at the end of the main line and by use of the loop to loop system.

HOOKLINKS  Only coated braid hooklinks are permitted, the coating must be intact and unbroken the whole length of the link. (The hair can be stripped)

HOOKS  Barbless size 4 - 7 straight point only. Nash Fang/Twister, Fox S3, Korda Kurve Shank etc. No long shank or beak point hooks.
Hooks sold on site. Please ask if you are unsure about the hooks that you use. Shrink or silicon tube to be used over the eye of the hook.

SCALES Due to the size of fish present, all anglers must be in possession of digital scales 60kg (132lb model). These are available for hire on site.

RIG PLACEMENT rigs to be kept away (minimum 10 metres) from the out of bounds area which is clearly marked, and the lily pads.

BAIT Anglers must use the Elite Baits products that are sold on site or purchased in the UK direct from Elite Baits.
This is the bait that the fish see week in week out and it produces the best results. Only the high quality carp pellets that are sold on site are allowed.
Boilies, pop-ups or a combination of these as hookbaits only. Anglers may bring their own own preferred pop-ups/wafters etc.
All additives including liquids, oils, glugs, salt, chilli etc are strictly prohibited as are particles, nuts, and all artificial/dried baits.
Please keep all bait in closed sealed containers at all times, and do not take bait into the accommodation or throw unused bait into the lake.

ANGLING RULES

Fishing from from 06:00 to 22:00.       
3 rods per angler (6 rods maximum on the fishery).         
No Bait boats.        
No carp sacks.
No unattended rods - anglers must be within 15 metres of their rods at all times - no exceptions.
Rig placement and baiting up from the dam are not allowed.   Please observe and keep your rigs well away from the out of bounds area.
Baiting up to be done by means of catapult, baiting spoon, throwing stick or spomb (no spods).
All fish to be unhooked, weighed and photographed in the water -  please read the page on fish care. Quality landing nets, mats, slings and waterside purpose built weigh stations are provided. 
Anglers must be in possesion of, and use NASH MEDI CARP antiseptic treatment on all hookholds and any visible body damage.
Any carp that are recaptured during an anglers' visit are to be released immediately without being weighed or photographed, as are any foul-hooked fish.
 
GENERAL

Children under 10 years old are not allowed on the angling swims unless supervised by a non-angling adult. No exceptions.
All gates to the property are kept locked at all times, please inform the owners if you wish to leave, and give an idea of your time of return.
Visitors to the site with prior permission only, visitors must check in at the owners house before entering onto the property.
All rubbish including cigarette ends to be bagged and put in the bins provided.

ALCOHOL

In our opinion, alcohol and fishing do not go together. If you disagree, then Les Croix is not the venue for you. Our rules relating to the consumption of alcohol are clear and simple ;
This is a quiet family run venue and as such we do not accommodate those who wish to mix fishing and alcohol. Please limit the use of alcohol to the evenings after fishing has ended.
