Lake Ruby

Lake Ruby is a 19 acre gravel pit, set in the heart of the Champaign Region in France near the small village of Martinicourt Goncourt. The lake is approximately 3 1/2 hours drive from Calais, hosts a maximum of 12 anglers and has over 300 carp, including 30’s 40’s and 50’s with a lake record of 56Lb.

The Stock
Over 100 carp were stocked in January 2019, with the largest of our residents now weighing 56lb+. Further stockings took place February 2020 as part of an ongoing stocking programme, so it is estimated there will be 300 carp to fish for during the 2020 season. When you consider the natural food larders in Lake Ruby, combined with anglers additional particles, pellet and boilies, along with our feeding programme, it won’t be long until these carp are packing on the pounds!

There are no crayfish, poisson chat, grass carp nuisance species in Lake Ruby.

Facilities
Our facilities can all be found in our newly built and fully furnished container. These include kitchen, toilets, hot shower and washing facilities along with a bait freezer, fridge for cold drinks and BBQ area.

Swims
You certainly get your fair share of water per swim and there’s always the opportunity to move swims should you wish. With the modern carp angler in mind from the outset, nine sizeable swims have been constructed around the lake to ensure maximum comfort during your weeks stay. Most swims can easily host two bivvies or shelters and all have been fitted with a weighing bar.

Fishing is only permitted from areas that have been provided, please do not fish between swims.
Rods are not to be left unattended at any time.
Maximum of three rods per angler.
You must use the mats and weigh slings provided by Lake Ruby.
No sacking of fish.
Fish must only be weighed using a sling.
The use off BBQ’s on legs is allowed; no ground level BBQ’s or any other fires.
Catch report and photographs of any notable fish caught would be appreciated for our website and notice board.
Please ensure you dip all nets before fishing.
No braided mainlines.
Safe Zone leaders are acceptable.
Micro barbed hooks only.
Minimum of 15lb main line to be used.
Bait boats are allowed.
When returning a fish to the water you must use a zipped sling regardless of the distance.
No nuts of any kind.
No lead core.
The normal process on arrival is that all anglers will enter a draw for the swim allocation, unless a prior agreement has been made for exclusive bookings.
Rowing boats and electric outboards are allowed.
