La Sèvre Niortaise – Lot 8 et 9
The Lot 8 and 9 night carp course is located on the Sèvre Niortaise river, in the Deux-Sèvres department (79), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. It is a coastal river which takes its source near Sepvret in Deux-Sèvres, crosses Niort, then descends into the Poitevin marshes of which it forms the main hydraulic artery, to end up flowing into the Atlantic Ocean in the cove de l'Aiguillon opposite the Ile de Ré. The length of its course is 158.4 km. Downstream from Niort, the Sèvre Niortaise and its tributaries form a navigable area of more than 100 km, organized in seven reaches which extend from the lock of Comporté (Niort) to that of Brault, at the outlet in the Bay from L'Aiguillon. We are here in the heart of the Poitevin marsh, the water in summer circulates more slowly and the river is sometimes covered with a green carpet due to the presence of duckweed. It offers great fish wealth with the presence of many species of white fish (bleak, roach, bream, barbel, tench), predators (pike, pike perch, perch, catfish) and common wild carp and mirrors of intermediate size with large large subjects up to 30 kg. The fishing pressure is relatively low and the carp are not suspicious. The main difficulty of fishing lies in the wind and the current which is quite strong especially at the beginning of the season. But it is all these random conditions that make the charm of river fishing ... The carp are cut to fight against the current and offer magnificent fights.
