Comiren Lake
The Lac de Comiren is located in the communes of St-Renan, in the department of Finistère (29) , in the Brittany region. Between 1960 and 1975, thanks to the discovery of large ore deposits in the marshes bordering the Ildut river, Saint-Renan became the European capital of tin. The alluvial deposits of cassiterite, a stanniferous ore, were exploited by COMIREN (Compagnie des Mines de Saint-Renan) using a disintegrating suction dredge placed on a floating pontoon (more than 5,200 tonnes of concentrate at 74 % of tin were produced). The holes dug for the exploitation of tin will then be filled with water from the river, creating six lakes, named from upstream to downstream: Lac de Pontavennec , Lac de Ty Colo , Lac de la Comiren (from the name of the Compagnie Miniere de Saint-Renan), Lake Tréoualen or La Laverie , Lake Poulinoc and Lake Lannéon . In this body of water you can catch: roach, rudd, perch, pike, zander, black-bass, carp... The banks of Comiren are very varied, more than 50% of which have branches or trees in the water . There are deep sectors, other shallow ones, very irregular bottoms. Exclusive night carp fishing has been authorized since 2015 .
