Haute Mayenne Lake
The Haute Mayenne lake is a dam lake located in the municipalities of Ambrières-les-Vallées, La Haie Traversaine on the right bank and Saint-Loup-du-Gast and Saint-Fraimbault-de-Prières on the left bank in the department of Mayenne (53) in the Pays De La Loire region. The Haute Mayenne lake has an area of 123 hectares and stretches over 6 kilometres . It is fed by the waters of the Mayenne, the Colmont and the Varenne. Its main purpose is to support the low water level of the Mayenne River and to supply drinking water needs downstream. In a natural and protected environment , it is a very popular site for fishing enthusiasts, nature lovers and hikers. It has flora and fauna remarkable for its richness and great diversity. It is a delight for anglers and is renowned for its abundance of predatory fish (zander, pike, perch and catfish), white fish and cyprinids with a remarkable herd of common and mirror carp.

Rules
For the practice of carp fishing at night, only groundbaits and vegetable baits are authorized. From 1/2 hour after sunset until 1/2 hour before sunrise, no captured carp may be kept in captivity or transported. It is forbidden, for an amateur fisherman, to transport live a carp of more than 60cm (Art. L436-16 paragraph 5 of the EC).
