La Boire des Carrés is a territory located in the town of St Rémy en Rollat in the Allier department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. FOR an area of 195 hectares , this territory is occupied by diverse environments: alluvial forest in soft wood, dry meadows and lawns and various aquatic environments of running water or areas of stagnant water, amphibious environments, sediment deposits devoid of vegetation. This portion of the valley is presented as a “refuge” corridor for remarkable flora and fauna. It is also a route of migration and colonization for plant and animal species. Remarkable species such as the Cistude, the Beaver, the Bouvière, the terns, 4 species of herons, more than 40 diurnal butterflies and 400 species of plants live in this territory. It also offers a good fish density rich in white fish, predators and cyprinids. It is a wild and unspoiled site classified as Natural Heritage but also classified as Sensitive Natural Area.
