Haute-Vilaine dam lake

The Haute-Vilaine dam lake is located between the commune of Saint-M'Hervé  and La Chapelle-Erbrée , as well as 8 kilometers from the commune of Vitrée , in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine (35) , in Brittany region.

It is a vast body of fresh water of 155 hectares , or 8 million cubic meters of liquid (6 kilometers long, 0.3 kilometers wide and 13 meters maximum depth).

The pond is the receptacle of the river Vilaine, but also of various streams (stream of the stable town, stream of the Mainerie).

The pond contains many species of sedentary or migratory birds and has been classified as ZNIEFF type 2 since 1990 (18 determining species and 292 other species present in the pond).

The night sector is huge since the entire part of the dam located in Ille-et-Vilaine (the other being in Mayenne) is night fishing.

Only baits of vegetable origin and those whose composition includes vegetable flour (boilies / pellets) are authorized.
From half an hour after sunset until half an hour before sunrise, no carp caught by anglers can be kept in captivity or transported.
Fishing rods, the number of which is fixed at a maximum of 4 per fisherman, must be placed in a battery near the fisherman.
The transport of live carp over 60 centimeters is prohibited at all times.
It is forbidden to travel with motorized vehicles on service roads and towpaths, to make fires, to camp without the authorization of the administration or the neighboring owners.
Only shelters of the "bivvy" type are authorized.
The use of a boat for night fishing, for pulling lines and baiting is prohibited.
Bait boat authorized.
