Astarac Lake
The Astarac lake or Astarac reservoir is located in the municipalities of Bézues-Bajon and Aussos in the department of Gers (32) in the South West of France. It is a French dam lake built in 1976 to create a water reserve on 171 hectares and with a capacity of 10 million cubic meters in order to recover rainwater and water from the Pyrenees , to use it. for agricultural purposes during frequent dry summers in this area beyond the Lannemezan plateau. Fishing is the main activity provided by this lake . There are thus carp, roach, pikeperch, perch, trout or even pike, allowing relaxing fishing or fishing from a boat. The Astarac lake is one of the most important and richest sites in the Gers with more than 170 species of birds observed such as the gray heron, the Little Egret, the Night heron and many others. The practice of sporting leisure activities is also widespread. Since spring 2014, Lake Astarac has also made it possible to practice certain nautical activities on a seasonal basis, such as sailing.
