Gondrexange Lake
In the land of ponds, at the eastern tip of the Lorraine natural park, the Gondrexange pond cultivates its taste for calm and relaxation, without seeking to encourage mass tourism. Here, bathers and fishermen cohabit peacefully, on a unique site in the middle of which the coal mine canal of the Sarre joins that of the Marne to the Rhine. The Gondrexange reservoir lake is located 15km west of Sarrebourg. Covering an area of 698 ha for 14 million m3 of water rich in fish; zander, pike, perch and carp weighing 8 to 10 kilos on average. It is necessary to have a large reservoir placed at the level of the upper reach to compensate for water losses from the locks, evaporation and water leaks due to the permeability of the reaches. The lake of Gondrexange is arranged so that it feeds not only the division reach (of the Vosges) but also, the part of the slope of the Sânon, between the origin of this reach and the pond of Réchicourt. With a maximum depth of 5.5m and an average of 2m. Overall the slopes are very gentle. Some places do not reach more than a meter in high summer. Average carp weight: 8 to 10 kilos Carp record: Little information; some mirrors over 24Kg have already tasted the net.
