Lacanau Lake
Lacanau lake is located in the town of the same name, in the Gironde department (33), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, in the South West of France. Covering an area of 1985 hectares, it is one of the largest natural freshwater lakes in France with an exceptional forest environment. Lacanau lake is fed by small rivers draining the Médoc. The northern part of the lake is home to a long and beautiful beach. The west shore offers varied scenery with vast wild spaces. A wide marked path allows you to discover in peace one of the wildest parts of the lake. This path winds between the waters of the lake, where reeds and water lilies alternate, and high wooded dunes from which the lake is discovered. Its islands form a privileged habitat for flora and fauna. It offers a beautiful fish diversity in predators, white fish and common carp and large mirrors with subjects weighing up to 20 kilos. Very popular with fishermen, walkers, tourists and nature lovers.
