Temple Lake
Lake Auzon-Temple and Amance are the two artificial lakes that form the Aube reservoir-lake. They are located in the Aube department, in the Champagne-Ardenne region. While Lake Amance, to the east, is dedicated to motor boating, Lake Auzon-Temple, to the west, is abandoned to the discovery of nature. Thus, the first is the largest lake in Europe reserved for power boating and the second is the largest in Europe without nautical equipment. If their normal capacity is 170 hm3, with a total area of 23.2 kilometers, they could, if they formed a single lake, be the third largest artificial lake in France, at the same level as Lake Orient. The two lakes, linked by a canal, are intended to protect Paris and its agglomeration from the devastating floods of the Seine, into which the Aube flows. Completed and commissioned in 1989, they are thus the last of the great lakes of the Seine to have been built. Like the neighboring East Lake, they are part of the Orient Forest Regional Natural Park created in 1970, twenty years before its creation. It offers many fishing stations due to its very cut out configuration. However, only one night fishing course is available. It starts towards the weir coming from Lake Amance and stretches for a few kilometers. The carp population is large and medium in size. It is common to surprise fish weighing about fifteen kilos.
