Lac de Barrage de Rabodanges
The Rabodanges dam lake spanning 5 municipalities (Putanges-Pont-Écrepin, Sainte-Croix-sur-Orne, Les Rotours, Saint-Aubert-sur-Orne and Rabodanges), 45 minutes from Caen, in the department de l'Orne (61), in the Normandy region. Located upstream of the Saint-Philbert dam lake, it was artificially created in 1960 by EDF in order to produce electricity. With a length of 6 kilometers and a maximum width of 250 meters, it is a lake in length born by the drowning of the valley of the Orne. It thus constitutes a body of water within the Swiss Normandy, in a quality environment. Although it is an artificial lake, the wild surroundings of Norman Switzerland have been very well preserved and its layout has been planned so as not to destabilize the ecological balance of the river. Tourist lake, it allows visits and walks in the heart of the Normandy countryside, by its wooded and winding shores. A restaurant boat operates there during the holidays. Also note the presence of water activities during the summer period. The fauna is mainly represented by ducks, grebes, gray herons, coots. The lake is divided into three parts, two where night fishing is open on both shores, and one (central) reserved for tourism and leisure navigation. The largest sector is located at the end of the lake and is about 2.4 kilometers long, the second is located before the dam and measures about 1 kilometer. Public lake
