Ullíbarri-Gamboa Reservoir

The Reservoir of Ullíbarri-Gamboa is located next to the villages Ullíbarri-Gamboa, Nanclares de Gamboa and Arroyabe in Álava, Basque Country, Spain. It has a volume of 146 m³ and this makes it the biggest reservoir in the Basque Country.

Located in Alava's village of Arrazua-Ubarrundia, the Ullíbarri-Gamboa Reservoir supplies drinking water to Vitoria-Gasteiz and the surroundings of Bilbao. It is also a recreation area, being one of the most visited places by the people of Alava in summertime.
 
The spectacular landscape accommodates two beautiful beaches: Landa and Garaio, as well as a summer camp offering excellent facilities and services on Zuaza Island.

If it has become a benchmark for cyprinid fishing since fishing is allowed all year round (something natural given the practical disappearance of trout). Fishing in the Ullibarri-Gamboa Reservoir for carp is not easy. Some days can be very frustrating, but especially for lovers of the most “extreme” modality of carp fishing if you can win very good-sized specimens. Of course, in the restricted area for crabs and at the time allowed for their capture, "to avoid conflicts" angling is not allowed. And finally, the utmost care with the cleaning of the fishing equipment. Zebra mussel larvae have already been detected and it is everyone's job that they do not proliferate. There are many places that are taking extreme measures, including the ban on fishing, due to its proliferation.
