Embalse de Cíjara
Cijara Dam was built on the bed of the Guadiana River, in the Portillo de Cijara, between the provinces of Badajoz and Caceres, Extremadura, Spain. The right abutment is located in the municipality of Alia (Caceres) and the left abument in Herrera del Duque (Badajoz). Cijara Reservoir belong to the Cuenca Hidrográfica del Guadiana (Guadiana River Basin) and its waters reach the provinces of Toledo and Ciudad Real. It has a capacity of 1505 h3, flooding 6565 hectares with a tail lenght of 45 km, affecting several municipalities as Villarta de los Montes, Helechosa de los Montes, Cijara, Anchuras, etc. Cijara Dam was built in 1956, is a gravity dam with straight plant made with concrete, has a crest lenght of 295 meters and a height from foundations of 80,5 meters.
