Montbel lake

The Montbel lake or the Montbel dam is an artificial lake created in 1985 which is located in the department of Ariège (09) , in the Occitanie region.

Reservoir located on the Trière , a small stream tributary of the Hers-Vif, it is fed by the waters of the Hers-Vif, brought by a bypass located just downstream of the Peyrat at the departmental limit of Ariège-Aude.

Its vocation is primarily agricultural and it can lose a very large part of its capacity in autumn, the smallest is constant and the water level never drops.

Lake Montbel is also an important center for leisure activities . Supervised swimming on the beach on the Montbel side and the nautical base in summer give the impression of being by the sea. The lake is also renowned for the variety of its species of fish, in particular carp and predators.

The small lake of Guiguette, the Bayards, the Constant and the Variable form a set of the Montbel dam and are all open to night carp on their entire surface.

Nature lovers can study the flora but also the migratory birds described on educational panels placed around the lake by the Association des Naturalistes de l'Ariège.

Fishing with vegetable baits only.
No carp caught by amateur anglers may be held in captivity or transported from half an hour after sunset until half an hour before sunrise.
Boat fishing is allowed.
Article 1:  The fisherman must respect the environment (with in particular the prohibition of pruning) and leave his fishing post free of all garbage.
Article 2:  Prohibition of making fires (the stove is authorized).
Article 3:  The distance between the rod and the bait must not exceed 200m.
Article 4  : the fisherman must mark his lines with a marker. In the context of respecting other users, we recommend the use of the back lead. 
Article 5:  Night carp fishing - As part of night carp fishing, camping is permitted under the conditions defined in Articles 6 and 7 except during the months of July and August during which only bivouac is authorized (setting up the tent in the evening, dismantling in the morning): any camping between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. will be in violation.
Article 6:  Night carp fishing - Only the igloo tent (or biwy) 2 places maximum / person is authorized within a limit of 2 tents per station, any other tent installed will be considered as wild camping.
Article 7:  Night carp fishing - The duration of the camp must not exceed 6 consecutive nights under penalty of penalty.
Article 8:  Night carp fishing - The landing mat is compulsory.
Article 9:  Night carp fishing - The fisherman must indicate his presence by a light device.
