Lake Der-Chantecoq
The Lac du Der-Chantecoq is located between Saint-Dizier and Troyes in the town of Giffaumont-Champaubert, in the department of Marne (51) and at the edge of Haute-Marne (52). Impounded in 1974, the Lac du Der is one of the largest artificial lakes in Europe designed to regulate the waters of the Marne river. Little by little, it has melted into the bocage of the Marne and the forest of Haut-Marne. Become a real jewel of nature set in the landscape, the lake of Der-Chantecoq makes us discover large wild spaces. A paradise for fishermen, the Lac d u Der-Chantecoq offers 4800 hectares for all types of fishing, but also for hunting predatory fish. Its healthy environment gives its water such a quality that the aquatic populations shine , no necrotic fish with dull colors, even the small fry are adorned with a rainbow of pearly and vivid colors: wonders. Their appearance and size demonstrate remarkable growth in this extraordinary environment. The beautiful carp found there add a sporting character to the pleasure of fishing in the Der. The average carp weight is around 15 kilos. The herd is mainly made up of mirror carp. The records, a 32.8 kg mirror carp and a common nicknamed Moby Dick of 38 kg.

Regulations of the Marne Fishing Federation and AAPPMA "Gardon de Larzicourt". Fishing on the Lake is subject to the possession, in addition to a fishing authorization for the Lake, of a fishing license issued by an approved Fishing Association for the Protection of the Aquatic Environment and provided with the or fish stamps corresponding to the fishing method practiced. Any holder of a fishing license is authorized to fish from the shore with a floating line, rod held in hand (live fishing prohibited). Night carp fishing is practiced on well-defined posts designed for a maximum of 2 fishermen. You cannot settle down without having registered and paid your fishing rights at the Maison des Pêcheurs.
