Day ticket fishery with something for every level of angler
The land was bought for gravel extraction and the seven lakes were formed from a stream running through the valley to supply water to the processing plant, where the gravel was washed. Silt from the gravel washing process was left to settle in a series of silt ponds which were later filled in and transformed into the main car park. In the late 1970’s gravel extraction ceased and in the 1980’s the lakes were let to Leisure Sport Angling (latterly Cemex Angling) who stocked the lakes and then fished them until 1996. Seven Lakes Angling was then started by Youngs to take over the running and management of the lakes. Unfortunately, access to the lakes was restricted in 2000, when the addition of electric gates for Youngs Industrial Estate prevented access to the lakes outside normal working hours. Youngs campaigned tirelessly for a dedicated entrance and were finally granted planning permission in 2010. The new entrance to Paices Wood Country Parkland opened in 2011 giving access to the lakes 7 days a week. Improvements and additional stocks have been ongoing since 2011, but in 2017 the lakes were drained, de-snagged, banks repaired and marginal planting added, to compliment new stocks being introduced, including Tench and Crucian Carp. Seven Lakes Fishery are committed to continually improving and developing the lakes and their facilities and welcome any feedback or comments.
