Le Rhône et Canal d’Arles
The Rhone and Arles Canal Carpe de Nuit Parcours is located on the Rhone in the Bouches-du-Rhône department (13), in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d´Azur region. Compared to the Rhône, the Arles-to-Fos Canal is interesting because you are more in nature. This corner has still remained “wild”. The Rhone is a European river, 812 kilometers long, which originates in the Rhone glacier in Switzerland, at an altitude of 2,209 meters, in the Alps. It travels 290 kilometers in Switzerland, flowing into Lake Geneva to exit in Geneva. He then entered France, where he traveled 522 kilometers. It ends its course in the Camargue delta to flow into the Mediterranean Sea. Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône is the last city on the Rhône. The Rhone hydrographic basin and the Mediterranean coastal rivers represent more than 20% of the surface of France. It offers great fish wealth with the presence of many species of white fish, predators and cyprinids. But also migratory fish which are obliged to move between fresh water and the sea in order to carry out their biological cycle such as the great shad, the shad feint, the sea lamprey, the river lamprey, the sturgeon or even eel. The fishing pressure is still relatively low and the carp are not overly suspicious. The main difficulty of fishing lies in the frequent and sometimes very violent wind as well as the current which is quite strong especially at the beginning of the season. But it is all these random conditions that make the charm of river fishing ... The carp are cut to fight against the current and offer magnificent fights.
