Le Parc Gustave Courbet
Parc Courbet is located in the town of Alençon, in the department of Orne (61), in the Normandy region. Ideal for fishermen thanks to the presence of the Sarthe. Parc Courbet marks the start of the path along the Sarthe towards the canoe-kayak base (1.5km). Reserved for relaxation with its many original games for children. The Sarthe has its source in the Orne, at an altitude of 252 meters, the river flows in a south-westerly direction. For much of its course, it then marks the boundary between the departments of Orne and Sarthe. It approaches a little downstream from Alençon the foothills of the Armorican Massif, where it has carved a steep-sided and winding valley, the Sarthe returns to the plain at Fresnay-sur-Sarthe and flows slowly through the Le Mans countryside first towards the south. until downstream of Le Mans where it receives the waters of the Huisne, then west to Sablé-sur-Sarthe and, again, south to its confluence with the Mayenne, with which it forms Maine, north of Angers. With a length of 313 kilometers and a width of up to 70 meters, La Sarthe is today used for river yachting tourism. It offers a rich natural heritage with exceptional flora and fauna and excellent tranquility throughout its course. It belongs to the important cyprinicultural rivers with a density of common and mirror carps of good sizes and presents a strong fish population of predators (pike, pike perch, perch, catfish) and white fish (bleak, roach, rudd, bream, tench, chub, stud). It is an exceptional river which offers great fishing possibilities on its course. Public lake
