The Superior Scarpe is a river located in the Pas-de-Calais (62) department, in the Hauts de France region. La Scarpe has its source in Berles-Monchel, near Aubigny-en-Artois. The Scarpe flows in Arras into the canalised Scarpe at an altitude of 55 meters. It crosses in particular Douai, Saint-Amand-les-Eaux, and joins the Scheldt at Mortagne-du-Nord. It measures 102 kilometers and two-thirds of its route is canalized. It has 19 locks. It is divided into 3 sections: The Scarpe-Supérieure runs for 23 kilometers from Arras to Corbehem. the Average Scarpe 7 kilometers to Douai Fort de Scarpe. the Lower Scarpe flows for 38 kilometers to Mortagne-du-Nord where it flows into the Scheldt. It is home to a rich diversity of white fish (bream, rudd, roach, crucian, tench), predators (pike, pike perch, perch) and intermediate-sized common and mirror carp. Note also the presence of migratory fish such as eel.
