The Garonne is a river that originates in Spain and flows for 647 kilometers before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean. Its estuary is the Gironde. For its French part, the Garonne stretches over 520 kilometers. Before reaching Gironde, it crosses several departments in the South West (Ariège, Haute Garonne, Tarn et Garonne, Lot et Garonne). This river crosses the Gironde for 98 kilometers. The downstream part, between Castets-en-Dorthe and the estuary, is under the influence of the tide. There are many white fish such as carp, bream and bleak, but also predators such as pike, perch and pike perch. Eel, shad or mullet can also be caught there.
