The canalized Meuse - Saint Mihiel sector - is a night carp course in the Meuse department (55), in the Grand-Est region. During floods, the Meuse comes out of its bed to offer a flooded landscape. Many tributaries crisscross the alluvial plain before they merge with it. The navigation canals (Canal de la Marne au Rhin / Canal de l'Est) are also part of the hydrographic network and there are sometimes connections between the Meuse and the canal: this is the canalized Meuse. There is a remarkable flora and fauna with 134 species of birds counted on the site, including 30 species listed in the Birds Directive (Bird protection tools). The Meuse is a European river 950 kilometers long with a relatively narrow basin facing south-north. The Meuse contains an exceptional natural heritage and will delight lovers of nature and fishing. The Meuse offers a large and varied fish wealth with the presence of many species of white fish, predators (pike, pike perch, perch, large catfish) and common wild carp and mirrors of intermediate size with subjects weighing up to 25 kg. . The fishing pressure is relatively low and the carp are not suspicious. The main difficulty of fishing lies in the wind and the current which is quite strong especially at the beginning of the season. But it is all these random conditions that make the charm of river fishing ... The carp are cut to fight against the current and offer magnificent fights. For the posts, it will be necessary to look in priority for posts sheltered from the current, a dead arm, an island point, a hole followed by a shoal and congested places (submerged branches, grass beds, water lilies).
