The Saône - Genouilleux sector
The Saône - Sector Genouilleux - is a night carp course located in the department of Ain (01) , in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The Saône is a river in eastern France, the main tributary of the Rhône . With a course of nearly 480 kilometers, it is the ninth longest river in France. It has its source in Vioménil at the foot of Ménamont, south of the Seuil de Lorraine, at an altitude of 405 meters . It merges with the Rhône at Lyon, at an altitude of 163 meters . The Saône is one of the most beautiful rivers in France , whose gentle slope and regular flow make it an easy and smooth waterway. It weaves its way between fortified towns and the hillsides of the famous Mâconnais and Beaujolais vineyards. Classified as a Natura 2000 site , it is recognized by the European Union for the richness of its ecological heritage. It is an essential river as much by its size as by the diversity of its fish population , it will satisfy all types of fishermen and lovers of wild nature . It offers a high density of predators (pike, pikeperch and catfish of good size), cyprinids and a remarkable herd of wild common and combative mirror carps that can reach considerable weights .
