The Rhône - Culoz sector
The Rhône - Sector Culoz - is a night carp course located in the department of Ain (01) , in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The Rhone is a European river, 812 kilometers long, which originates in the Rhone glacier in Switzerland, at an altitude of 2,209 meters, in the Alps. It crosses the departments of Haute Savoie (74) , Savoie (73) , Ain (01) , Rhône (69) , Isère (38) , Drôme (26) and Ardèche (07) . It travels 290 kilometers in Switzerland, flowing into Lake Geneva to exit in Geneva. It then entered France, where it travels 522 kilometers . It ends its course in the Camargue delta to flow into the Mediterranean Sea. The Rhone hydrographic basin and the Mediterranean coastal rivers represent more than 20% of the surface of France . It offers a great fish wealth with the presence of many species of white fish, predators and common and mirror carps. The fishing pressure is still relatively low and the carp are not overly suspicious. But also migratory fish which are obliged to move between freshwater and the sea in order to carry out their biological cycle such as the great shad, the shad, the sea lamprey, the river lamprey, the sturgeon or even eel. The main difficulty of fishing lies in the frequent and sometimes very violent wind as well as the current which is quite strong especially at the beginning of the season. But it is all these random conditions that make the charm of river fishing ... The carp are cut to fight against the current and offer magnificent fights .
