La Cure – Secteur Vermenton
La Cure - Sector Vermenton - is a French river flowing in the departments of Saône-et-Loire (71), Nièvre (58) and Yonne (89), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. It is an important tributary of the Yonne and a sub-tributary of the Seine. La Cure has its source at an altitude of 725 meters, in the territory of the town of Anost in Saône-et-Loire. It takes a north-northwest direction, an orientation that it maintains throughout its 112-kilometer course. In a charming and bucolic nature, it crisscrosses under arches of foliage or between wild gorges and experiences a torrential life in its crossing of the Morvan. Most of its route, from its source to downstream from Vézelay, takes place within the Morvan Regional Natural Park. It then flows into the Yonne at Cravant, at an altitude of 111 meters, about fifteen kilometers upstream from the town of Auxerre. It offers good fishing conditions and has a good fish density of white fish (bleak, roach, bream), predators (pike perch, pike, perch) and common carp of intermediate size.
