Réservoir du Bourdon
The Bourdon Reservoir or Bourdon Lake is an artificial lake located in the municipalities of Saint-Fargeau and Moutiers-en-Puisaye, in the department of Yonne (89), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. With an area of 189 hectares, this “horse” shaped lake is the largest in the region. It is part of the watershed of the Seine. It is also called “Bourdon reservoir” or “reservoir lake” because it was created in 1901 to supply the Briare canal. It owes its name to the Bourdon stream (13.2 kilometers) which springs from Treigny and also feeds the water feature of the Château de Saint-Fargeau, located three kilometers downstream from the lake. In a wild and unspoiled setting, it is a delight for nature lovers, tourists and fishermen. It offers good fishing conditions and has a good piscicultural density of white fish (bleak, roach, bream), a large population of large predators (pike perch, pike) and a good population of common carp of intermediate size with individuals. easily reaching 20 kg. Internationally renowned, it hosted the French championships and the world carp fishing championships in 2015 and 2016.
