Description
Oakview Lake is one of the top exclusive carp fishing holiday destinations in France. It’s set in established grounds with private access and a well- stocked carp lake. The Oakview accommodation is a two bedroom lodge with a large covered terrace overlooking the lake. The venue is very popular with couples and groups of 2, 3 or 4 anglers. The owners live on site, but not on the lake complex. This means that you can relax and enjoy total exclusivity while knowing that help is at hand whenever you need it. Oakview Lake is 2½ acres and it can accommodate 4 Anglers. It has large double swims and you can fish the home swims from the accommodation terrace, so it’s perfect if you want to fish socially. The lake has swims on all four banks and there is a centrally placed island, so four anglers can each fish separately if preferred. Depths range between 3ft and 7ft, a clay bottom is covered in a few inches of silt and there are lots of clear gravel spots to fish to. There are plenty of fishing features in the lake, including the island, a deep bowl, a trench and margin features all round. Oakview Lake is packed with large carp and apart from pike and a few small grass carp, there are no other species and no nuisance fish. The lake has a very good head of carp weighing over 40lb and a number of 50lb catches have been recorded. The average size of the fish is well over 30lb and there are very few carp under 20lb. Detailed weekly catch reports go back to 2009. The chances of landing a 50lb carp are best in April, before the fish spawn. The accommodation at Oakview Lake is a two bedroom lodge with a fully equipped kitchen, shower room and separate WC. It has a large covered wooden deck and enjoys panoramic views of the lake and surrounds. It has two twin bedrooms, a sofa bed, TV, wifi and everything you need to cater for for 6 people. Oakview Lake rarely has availability because most weeks are booked years in advance by its regulars. The good news is that when customers do have to cancel, they often tell us a long time in advance. That means it's always worth asking us to tell you when a cancellation comes up. Call 07564 061906 and ask to go on Oakview's cancellation list.
Rules
We're sure you'll understand, but to protect the fish and their environment we've come up with some easy to follow rules. Without further ado, the rules: Maximum three rods per angler. Rods must not be left unattended when lines are in the water. No sacking or retaining of fish allowed. Carp cots and weigh slings are provided on site and must be used to prevent cross-contamination. Landing nets must be dipped before use to prevent cross-contamination. A suitable antiseptic treatment (such as Klin-Ik) must be used at all times. Minimum 15lb mono mainline, no bent hook rigs or braided mainline, micro-barb or barbless hooks only. No particles (except tinned sweetcorn/carp pellets or pre-prepared particles purchased at Oakview) and no nuts of any type. Bait boats allowed. No swimming in the lake and do not tamper with the life buoys provided, which are there for your own protection. We reserve the right to inspect fishing tackle. Arrival time at Oakview Lake is 4pm and departure time is 10am
