Grandval Reservoir
The Grandval dam lake is a French dam in the Massif Central, located on the Truyère, in the Cantal department (15), between the municipalities of Fridefont and Lavastrie, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Located mainly in Cantal (15) but with a small part in Lozère, the reservoir is 742 meters above sea level and its volume amounts to 271 million cubic meters of water. About 28 kilometers long, it extends over 1,100 hectares with a depth of up to 70 meters in places. Lake Grandval waters several municipalities for which it serves as a natural limit: one in Lozère and ten in Cantal. Grandval has a great fish density: it is rich in predators (pike, pikeperch, perch), white fish (bleak and roach) and cyprinids.
