Furnace Lake

A heavily stocked lake of near 8 acres and home to Carp of all varieties, Koi's, Mirrors, Ghost, Commons and Grass Carp. Over the years much breeding has taken place within this lake producing beautiful coloured Carp. These Carp are renown for fighting hard on this lake. Carp sizes are to around the late 40lbs. 

Purpose built bivvy swims are constructed along one bank with a new bay of social swims. This lake has a clay bottom with a gully running down the middle. The wood side is not fished and can be used effectively as an island. The Furnace Lake water is from natural land drainage of some 1,200 acres. This lake has clean Ladies & Gentlemen’s flushing toilets.

hooks & rigs:  barbless hooks only to be used. no modified, filed or crimped. no pallatrax or circle hooks of any kind. do not bring any banned hooks onto this site. only one hook per line. no fixed rigs. no leadcore or abrasive leaders. no free lining. no spinners or lures. no surface fishing. random rig checking is made here. the violation of the hook rule will end your fishing trip.

line: roman & kiln lakes 30lb min. plantation lake 80lb min. braid may be used to the equivalent strength with tubing. carp only lakes 15lb min.

bait: oily bait, on the hook only, not to be used as ground bait. no fake bait. no tiger nuts. no bird seed. no chick peas. no seeds of any kind. no grain or nuts. no chicken, beef, sheep or pig products. no home made bait. all bait must be declared for inspection by the bailiff on arrival. do not bring any live or dead freshwater fish on to this site. live baiting is allowed. do not hold any more than six fish at any one time. bream, perch or roach only. no carp, tench or catfish to be used for this purpose. do not fish any of the stock ponds. do not bring any boilies or bait on to this site that has been dipped into any other waters outside of this fishery. all quality cat & carp baits are available on site. random rig & bait checks are made here. this is a commercail fishery, do not over bait your swim. those that overbait simply do not catch and this will be the case for anyone else fishing the same lake. if you see anyone overbaiting, please phone us in confidence and we will attend to it.

bait boats:  boats are allowed. do not use boats to deliver quantities of bait, only very small amounts and the rig. do not drop lines out of your line of sight.

children / pets:  children under 14 years and dogs are not allowed anywhere on site.

bbq’s:   bbq’s are permitted, but must be off the ground. no bonfires.

noise:  be respectful to other angles, especially at night. do not wander around the site at night.
no bright lights or lasers pointers.

preparation:  set up your net, mat, sling, cradle, tripod and camera before you cast out. don't make the fish wait for you. return fish to the water by sling or net.
 
handling:  do not lift a fish any higher than knee height and over a mat or cradle. return the fish to the lake quickly in the net, do not throw any fish. no carp or cats fish are to be sacked or retained.
 
snags:  if you cast into the bush or get snagged never cut the line, call us.
 
carp only lakes: min 15lb line. 42” nets and large mat or cradle.
 
catfish lakes:  roman & kiln. min 30lb line. plantation 80lb line.
all braid must have rubber tubing.
large  nets, mats, slings are a must on these lakes.
if you dont have it we rent it out at the shop. 

rods:  not to be left unattended for visits to the toilet or the peg next door. this is an offence that is now prosecuted by the environment agency. rods must not be left in the care of any other angler. do not take any fish away from the peg or into the lodge for photographic reasons. do not stand holding fish for photo's, keep them low and always over a mat, should they slip out of your hands.
 
litter & rubbish:   leave your peg tidy. discarded line must be bagged immediately. we tidy and inspect on a daily basis. we know who fishes each peg, if you are found to have left a mess, you will not return here. please take your rubbish home with you.
 
dipping:  all nets, mats, cradles, bait boat hulls, spreader blocks and slings will be dipped on arrival without question.
 
visitors:  only one allow per angler during opening hours only. this must be by prior arrangement with us only. admission is discretionary. there is a small daily charge for visitors as they use the services.

takeaways:  takeaway food is not permitted.

gate closure: the electric gates close and alarm systems are armed at 1700 daily. no one is to enter or leave the premises until the following morning at 0800.
no one is to make any drop off's or deliveries out of hours.
 
overnight guests:  strictly wives or partners, non fishing only and must not handle any fish or equipment.
 
safety & security:  take away food is not allowed. do not ask anyone to drop off supplies after 5pm.
safety: alarm, cctv systems are operating constantly.
you are locked in at night for your safety and cannot leave unless it is an emergency.
do not attempt to leave the site without calling us first or you will be treated as an intruder.
do not climb any gates.
we have a duty to protect you the angler, our fish and our wild birds.
anyone attempting to enter these premises will be caught and will leave the premises along with any angler found to be involved.
this is peaceful serious fishing. not suitable for party goers, drunks or illegal drug users.
we do not allow anyone to walk around these lakes for safety reasons.
if you wish to go to the toilet, your vehicle or the shop, you want to be sure that your gear is there on your return. angling theft and crime is on the increase, this is a safe fishery.

pre visits:  you are welcome to come to the shop and view ariel photographs and talk to us prior to your angling. for securiy reasons, we do not allow anyone to turn up and walk around these premises. 
 
arrival:  if you arrive before opening times, remain in your vehicle with the engine off.  do not throw cigarette ends. do not arrive too early.
in the interest of safety, all new or those who have not attended for a while must provide us with photographic id, drivers licence is ideal.
the drive from the a.281 has a speed limit of 5 mph. speeders are turned around, cctv.
 
checking:  you must hold a valid rod and line licence issued by the ea. random rig and licence checks are made here. illegal drugs are not permitted on this site, anyone suspected of illigal drug use will have their trip terminated.
 
please note:  children and dogs are not permitted anywhere on the site. no air, pellet or bb guns are allowed on the site.

grounds: we are in the countryside. beware of uneven gound, rabbit hole etc. do not walk down banks, keep to paths and roads. be aware of deep water and soft bank edges.

birds & wildlife: this is a sanctuary to our resident wildlife.  all wildlife  must be treated with respect. if you are a bird hater, this is not the place for you. cruelty will not be tolorated.

if you feel that you are unable or unwilling to comply with these rules, please do not attend this fishery. this is a respectable fishery with 1st class stocking & facilities and we wish to keep it this way. we have clean toilets, please use them.
this property is a private residence. the rights of admission to this fishery are reserved.
admission is strictly at the discretion of the bailiff.
the lakes at furnace are not suitable for novice anglers.
