Canal Maritime de la basse Loire

The night carp course of the Maritime Canal de la Basse Loire is located near the town of Frossay, in the Loire-Atlantique department (44), in the Pays de la Loire region. 

The Lower Loire Maritime Canal (also called the La Martinière Canal) is located in the most westerly part of France. In the Pays de la Loire region, in Loire Atlantique, about twenty kilometers south of Nantes. The maritime canal, since the 1980s has been a popular walking site, the landscape of this tree-lined water line provides a feeling of serenity and emotion, the natural and technical heritage is visible, water is everywhere , we are in the Loire estuary. It offers a great fish wealth with the presence of many species of white fish, predators and cyprinids. 

The fishing pressure is relatively low and the carp are not suspicious. The main difficulty of fishing lies in the wind and the current which is quite strong especially at the beginning of the season. But it is all these random conditions that make the charm of river fishing ... 

The carp are cut to fight against the current and offer magnificent fights. For the posts, it will be necessary to look in priority for posts sheltered from the current, a dead arm, an island point, a hole followed by a shoal and congested places (submerged branches, grass beds, water lilies).

It is prohibited day and night to transport live a carp of more than 60 cm. From one ½ after going to bed until one ½ after rising, no carp caught by anglers may be kept in captivity or transported. Vegetable baits are the only authorized baits. Only biwys, shelters and brolly tents are authorized (green or camouflage colors).
