The Gâvre pond is located in the village of the same name, in the Loire-Atlantique department (44), in the Pays de la Loire region. Le Gâvre is a small tourist town located between Nantes and Rennes, and very close to the seaside (La Baule). A stone's throw from the city is its 4,500 hectare national forest which is a must-see for nature lovers. Bordering the forest, the "Le Perche" stream drowns in the pond of the forest campsite, at the entrance to the town.

It is prohibited day and night to transport live a carp of more than 60 cm. From one ½ after going to bed until one ½ after rising, no carp caught by anglers may be kept in captivity or transported. Vegetable baits are the only authorized baits. Only biwys, shelters and brolly tents are authorized (green or camouflage colors).
